Naomi Osaka (US$ 15 million) is in fifth place, followed by Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka (US$14.7 million), Jessica Pegula (US$12.5 million), Venus Williams (US$12.2 million), Elena Rybakina (US$9.5 million), and Leylah Fernandez (US$8.8 million).

The tennis player with the best performance at WTA 2023 Zheng Qinwen (US$ 7.9 million) is also on the Forbes list.

Likewise, Tunisian tennis player Ons Jabeur ($5.7 million) and Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova ($5.2 million) rounded out the top 20 on Forbes’ list of highest-paid female athletes.

Forbes’ annual list consists of estimated on-field and off-field earnings.

Off-field income is determined through conversations with industry insiders and reflects money earned annually from sponsorships, licensing, appearances, and memorabilia, as well as income from any businesses in which the athlete is interested.

Earlier this month, American sports media company Sportico released its list of the highest-paid female athletes.

Using different measures of off-field earnings puts Gauff at the top of Sportico’s list.
